Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about EV charger installation answered honestly.

Do I need a panel (switchboard) upgrade?

Not always. It depends on your existing switchboard and available electrical capacity. Before installation, we’ll assess your electrical system and let you know if a switchboard upgrade is needed to safely support your EV charger.

How long does installation take?

Most standard EV charger installations can be completed in a single visit. However, the timeframe depends on your property’s electrical setup and whether any additional work, such as a switchboard upgrade or long cable runs, is required.

Can I install a Tesla charger for a non-Tesla EV?

In many cases, yes. Tesla Wall Connectors are compatible with most electric vehicles that use the Type 2 charging connector. If you’re unsure which charger is right for your vehicle, we’ll recommend the best option during your consultation.

Do I need a permit?

All EV charger installations must comply with Australian electrical standards. As licensed electricians, we ensure your installation is completed safely and provide all required electrical compliance documentation.

What if my garage is detached?

That’s not a problem. We can install EV chargers in detached garages by running cabling from your switchboard. We’ll assess the cable route and recommend the most practical and cost-effective solution for your property.

Can I get a 50A circuit?

It depends on your home’s electrical capacity and switchboard. We’ll inspect your existing electrical system and advise whether a 50A circuit is suitable or recommend the safest charging capacity for your home.
